Furniture and what to do with it?

Writer: Thomas TriplerThomas Tripler

Clients often wonder if they can get there floors done/changed/cleaned if the room is occupied …

We absolutely can handle any project with an occupied space.

In a perfect world, yes the room would be like a blank canvas and we would breeze in and start laying new flooring.

The world unfortunately is not cooperative on this matter.

Things to consider when having us work in your home

Small Items

We will move all items out of a room.   However, it is in your best interest to get the small stuff up and out to help the process.  We will be as delicate with your remote and batteries we find under the couch as we will be with your flat screen, however when a room is being turned over, it is better for you to keep track of the little items.   Toys, remotes, any misc item which doesn’t need to be “carried” out is better served being removed and inventoried by the client since we won’t be as familiar with a dog toys special place or which baseball glove is in the garage and which is in the basment.

In addition to helping us, it also will expedite the process since small items can be the most time consuming

Electronics

We handle your electronics with TLC and (fingers crossed) haven’t had a break yet.     We remove all electronics, tvs, etc and replace them upon completion to their working order.

Couches/Loveseats/Furniture

We have a wide array of skates, sleds and other items which facilitate our moving heavy items in a fashion which doesn’t bang walls, rip upholstery and generally cause issues.    Sometimes we do need to stack some furniture in  way to make it fit in the room we are provided, but we always find a way.   ALWAYS.

Bedroom Set

Right behind tvs in clients concern when undertaking a project is bedroom furniture.   We can move dressers, break down beds, and rebuild them as well upon completion. We will take the drawers out in order to make the pieces lighter in some instances.  Again, whatever needs to be done to facilitate the installation.   We have yet to encounter a job where we couldn’t fit the items in a different room or hallway.

Leapfrogging

In the event, another room is not an option, often we will leapfrog the items.   We squeeze all the items on one side of the room, work on the other side and then flip the items to that side and work on the  other.   This is not ideal, but it is a scenario we encounter just about once every three jobs so it’s not the end of the world.

Pods or storage containers

For particularly large projects we will utilize a POD if necessary.  These are extremely helpful.  However, we still need to get the items there and then back in the home.

While your furniture and personal items are something to consider when replacing your floors, cleaning your floors or finishing your floors, they will not preclude us from doing the work.

We are licensed, insured and bonded via Utica First.
