WHAT LIES BENEATH ...

Writer: Thomas TriplerThomas Tripler

I often hear from clients a measure of surprise when i inform them that a particular product will require some work to be done on the subfloor. The reality is that for the vast majority of flooring products, the substrate and its condition, level and most importantly its relationship to water. If it has come in contact with it, has it been resolved and how? Is it level with minimal height variances over a 10" area? typically no more than 1/4 inch allowed over such a distance. Product warranties require it.. Not to mention the credibility of the professional installing it.. In short, the subfloor., should you desire to have a nice "floor" floor, should be every bit as nice as the " floor : floor.
